4.First-aid measures

NOTE TO PHYSICIAN

In case of shortness of breath, give oxygen. Keep victim warm. Keep victim under observation.

After inhalation

Move to fresh air. Oxygen or artificial respiration if needed. Get immediate medical attention.

After skin contact

Immediately flush skin with plenty of water. Remove and isolate contaminated clothing and shoes. If irritation persists, get medical attention immediately. For minor skin contact, avoid spreading material on unaffected skin.

Wash clothing separately before reuse.

After eye contact

Immediately flush eyes with plenty of water for at least 15 minutes. Assure adequate flushing of the eyes by separating the eyelids with fingers. Get medical attention immediately.

After ingestion

Rinse mouth. Give one or two glasses of water to drink. Do not induce vomiting without medical advice. If vomiting occurs naturally, have victim lean forward to reduce risk of aspiration. Loosen tight clothing such as a collar, tie, belt or waistband. Do not use mouth-to-mouth method if victim ingested the substance. Seek immediate medical attention.

Most important symptoms/effectsacute and delayed

Cough, sore throat, difficulty breathing, redness, burns, burning sensation, shock, or collapse; Harmful if swallowed

Causes severe skin burns and eye damage

5. Fire-fighting measures

Suitable extinguishing agents

Dry chemical powder, water spray, carbon dioxide or alcohol-resistant foam.

Special hazards caused by the material, its products of combustion or flue gases

Decomposes above 205 °C. This produces toxic fumes including sulfur oxides and hydrogen sulfide. Reacts with bases and oxidants. This produces sulfur oxides. This generates toxic hazard. Attacks metals.

Protective equipment for fire-fighters

Firefighters should wear air breathing apparatus, full body fire-fighting clothing and oil resistant rubber gloves, and put out the fire at a safe distance and with sufficient protection.

Move the container from the fire to the open space as far as possible. Evacuate immediately if containers in the fire field are discolourable or sound from the safety relief device.

Isolate the scene of the accident and prohibit irrelevant

personnel from entering. Collect and treat fire water to prevent environmental pollution.

6. Accidental release measures

Person-related safety precautions

Remove all sources of ignition. Isolate accident scene, set warning signs around, and evacuate irrelevant personnel to the safety area from crosswind and upwind.

It is suggested that the safety treatment personnel should wear positive pressure self-contained breathing apparatus, chemical  protective clothing and chemical protective gloves. Direct contact with leakage is prohibited. Prevent contact with skin and eyes. Cut off the leakage source as much as possible.

Measures for environmental protection

Prevent further leakage or spillage if safe to do so. Do not allow material to be released to the environment without proper governmental permits.

Measures for cleaning/collecting

Small amount of leakage: collect in dry, clean and covered container with clean shovel, and transfer to a safe place. Do not flush into the sewer.

Large amount of leakage: build a causeway or trenching asylum. Close the drain pipe. Cover with foam, inhibit evaporation. Transfer to tank car or special collector with explosion-proof pump, recycle or transport to waste treatment site for disposal.

Additional information

See Section 7 for information on safe handling.

See section 8 for information on personal protection equipment.

See Section 13 for information on disposal.

7. Handling and storage

Handling

Information for safe handling

Airtight operation, provide adequate local exhaust.

Operators must be specially trained and strictly abide by the operation rules. It is suggested that the operators should wear self-contained filter gas mask, safety glasses, impervious work clothes and chemical resistant gloves. Keep

away from fire and heat sources. Smoking is forbidden in the workplace. Handle with care to prevent damage to packaging and containers. Equip with corresponding varieties and quantities of fire fighting equipment and leakage emergency equipment. Empty containers may contain harmful substances.

Information about

protection against

explosions and fires

Cut off the leakage source as far as possible and eliminate all ignition sources.

STORAGE

Requirements to be met by storerooms and containers

Store in a cool and well-ventilated warehouse. Store separately from reducing agents, perchlorates, nitrates, metal powders, oxidizing agents, nitric acids and bases and avoid mixed storage. Keep tightly closed until used. Keep away from fire and heat source.

Information about storage in one common storage facility

Stay away from incompatible substances such as Reducing agents, perchlorates, nitrates, metal powders, oxidizing agents, nitric acids and bases. Emergency handling equipment and suitable receiving materials should be provided in the storage area.

Store locked up.

Further information about storage conditions

No data.
